AFGHAN KING’S TOUR
ARRIVAL IN PARIS IMPOSING PROCESSION By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. PARIS, Thursday. The King and Queen of Afghanistan have arrived at Paris. They were greeted at the station by the President, M. Doumergue, amid the booming of guns and the playing of the Afghan National Anthem. The King made a handsome figure in the gorgeous red, gold and silver uniform of an Afghan general, with a white egret plume in his cap. The Queen, who would anywhere pass for a European, was wearing a smart hat o£ brown velour and fur coat. There was a touching scene when Prince Hedayatollah, aged 16i years, who is studying in Paris, greeted his parents, whom he had not seen for two years. Then an imposing and colourful procession passed along the Champs Elysees through the Place de la Concorde, to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, w-here the Royal guests were entertained. King Amanullah wil sleep on the bed on which Napoleon slept, and will use a writing table that was used bjGambetta, the famous French statesman. The Royal party is expected to arrive in London on March 14. —A. and N.Z.
