PROHIBITION ISSUE
MR. CURTIS STATES VIEWS REPLY TO SENATOR BORAH , By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. WASHINGTON, Wed. Senator Charles E. Curtis (Kansas), has replied to the open letter which Senator W. E. Borah has sent to all. Republican candidates for the Presidency for a 'clear pronouncement of their views on the prohibition issue. “Should I be nominated and elected President," said Mr. Curtis, “I am in favour of meeting the issue squarely, and believe in a strict and energetic enforcement of the laws to carry out the constitutional amendment.” Mr. Curtis also stated that he was opposed to the policy of allowing the States to determine the alcoholic content of beverages, and was also opposed to the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment.—A. and N.Z.
