FATAL FALL INTO WATER
DEATH OF A SEAMAN Failing between a vessel and the 'wharf, a seaman, Mr. William Ogle, single, aged about 60 years, was found to be dead when brought to ~afety a few minutes later. The accident occurred at the Prince’s ■Wharf yesterday afternoon, vhile Mr. Ogle was assisting to load stores on the Union Steam Ship Company’s Kahna. He had only signed on that day; and the vessel was preparing to leave for Noumea, Surprise and Walpole Islapds. In stepping from the vessel to the wharf Mr. Ogle slipped and fell into the water. Tho chief officer and two others immediately climbed down to the water's edge, and brought the man to the wharf. He had been in the water only a few minutes. There were no marks on the body, End it is therefore believed that death was duo to shock. An inquest is to be held to-day.
