MAORI BOY DROWNED

Press Association. GISBORNE, To-day. A Maori child named Hape Christie Hudson, aged ten years, was drowned while bathing at Te Karaka yesterday evening. He was crossing the river to join his stepfather, when he disappeared in a deep hole. On missing the child the stepfather dived in immediately and recovered the body, but efforts at resuscitation failed.
