THE MENJOU INFLUENCE

MEANS GOOD LUCK Adolphe Menjou means good luck as much as does Santa Claus to many people in Hollywood. The list includes Harry I>* Arras t, Luther Heed and Monta Bell, directors; Arnold Kent, Nicholas Soussanin and Lawrence Grant, actors; and Kathryn Carver, leading woman for Menjou, and many others. In the careers of all these the Menjou influences have been felt. Monta Bell, Luther Reed and Harry D’Arrast. all directed Menjou in their first picture. All of the pictures -were successful, and D’Arrast pictures, particularly “Service for Ladies” and ‘‘A Gentlemen of Paris,’ have been not;<bly successful, leading to D’Arrast’s retehtion as director for Menjou’s new picture, "Serenade.” Kach of the players has been given increasingly better parts in Menjou ajid other vehicles since their "discovery" by him.
