FUND FOR DEPENDENTS OF MISSING AIRMEN
A WELLINGTON PROPOSAL MAYOR CALLS MEETING • ■ ' * Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. The Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, has invited a meeting of citizens pn Tuesday evening to discuss the position of the widows of Lieut. J.* R. TVioncrieff and Captain G. Hood, with a view to deciding what action is to be taken. He points out that the gallant attempt of their husbands stirred the imagination of all New Zealand- They sought to place'New Zealand first and had no desire for personal gain. Apart altogether from criticism as to the completeness of their preparations, or otherwise, for the flight, none would deny that these were two brave menwho essayed a great task for the honour of New Zealand. “All men who attempted things,” stated Mr. Troup, “took risks, and should the time ever come when our young men ref used •to .take risks then all : romance would have gone out of life.” The proposal is to set a fund on foot.
