MOTORS AUCTIONED
A SUCCESSFUL SALE The buying public are fairly good judges of values and they demonstrated this at a large sale of used cars by auction under the hammer of Ansell’s, at Lane and Stanbridge's garage. Kitchener Street, this afternoon. There was a iarge and varied collection of cars and trucks, and a very good attendance of buyers. Most of the offerings were sold. An ancient Cadillac, not in running order, opened the sale and went for £l7 10s. The next offer was a better one, a Berliet tourer, four years old, for which bidding started at £SO and rose to £135 in two places, an offer of £125 cash being declined in. favour of £135 on terms. A French Peugeot, which had been stored for 5 years and had become either gummed or rusted up and refused to turn over, went to the only bidder for £l2. A 1925 Baby Austin reached the failmarket price ot £95, and a Bianchi four-seater was passed in at £97 10s, the owner wanting £lO5. A Ford tourer a couple of years old was passed in at £2l. In all some 25 vehicles were offered and most of them changed hands.
