PERSONAL. —Mr. J. 33. Dymock has joined the Kamona as second officer, in place of Mr. J. Sinclair. Mr. S. E. Ross has taken the place of Mr. J. McGill, sixth engineer of the SusCaptain M. T. Holm has taken command of the Progress, in place of Captain H. Hay. HINEMOA FOR NORFOLK ISLAND. —Spedding, Ltd., advises that the Goverenment steamer Hinemoa will leave Auckland at 3 p.m. next Wednesday, January 25, on her return trip to Norfolk Island. WAI HORA'S NEW NAME. The steamer Waihora, which was recently sold by the Union Company to a Japanese firm, is now named the Waihora Maru. TOFU A FOR AUCKLAND. —The local office of the Union Company advises that the Island passenger steamer Tofua leaves Suva at 4 o’clock this afternoon for Auckland, where she is due next Monday. SYDNEY STEAMERS.— At 3 p.m. tomorrow the Maunganui leaves Auckland and the Marama leaves Wellington for Sydney while at noon the Illimaroa sails from Sydney for Auckland. All the three vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning. KAPONGA FOR AUCKLAND. —The local office of the Union Company advises that the Kaponga, en route from Melbourne and Newcastle, left Wellington at 11 p.m. yesterday and leaves Picton at 10 o’clock this evening for Auckland, where she is due on Sunday. KANNA UNDOCKING.— After having her hull cleaned and painted, the Union Company advises that the Kanna undocks at 4 p.m. to-day and leaves Auckland next Tuesday for Noumea, thence Surprise Island, Walpole Island, back to Noumea, thence Auckland. THE CANADIAN PI ON EE R.— Cabled news has been received by the Canadian Government Agency that the Canadian Pioneer arrived at New York January 13 from Auckland, en route to Boston and Halifax. The vessel left Auckland on December 6. TONGARIRO AT PANAMA. —N ews by cablegram has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Tongariro arrived at Panama on January 12 from Lyttelton, and sailed again on January' 13 for London. The vessel left Lyttelton on December 23. HERMINIUS WITH BASIC SLAG.—L. D. Nathan and Company lias been advised that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Herminius sailed from Antwerp on January 17 with basic slag for discharge at Auckland. The Herminius, formerly called the Waimana, is expected to arrive at Auckland on February 25.

Day and night firing will be car : fout until January —* • STEAMER NILE SAI LING.—To-mor-row evening the tramp steamer, Nile, is expected to complete the discharge of the local portion of her cargo of Galveston sulphur at King’s YYhart, when ti t local agents, Messrs. Robert Miller and Co , hope to dispatch her for Lyttelton. New Plymouth and Wanganui to complete. KAWAU STILL WEATHER - BOUND. The Northern Company advises that their steamer Kawau is still weatherbound at Mangawai. Althougn they hope to dispatch her at half-past to-mor-row morning for.Kawau, Takatu, Ti Point and Little and Big Omaha, it is doubtful if the trip will be made. The Kawau s trip to Kawau, Leigh and Manga vs ai has been postponed till 9 a.m. on Saturday. CLAYMORE TO CALL AT KAWAU. — The Northern Company advises that in consequence of the Kawau’s trip to Kawau, Leigh and Mangawai to-morrow morning having to be postponed till Saturday, they have arranged for the Claymore to call at Kawau Island this evening on her way from Auckland to Whangarei. She sails from Auckland at 7 p.m. CLANSMAN DELAYED. Rough weather on the coast has delayed the arrival of the Northern Company’s steamer Clansman, according to advice received at the local office of the company. The vessel was due at 7 o’clock this morning, but will not arrive now till early this afternoon. She will sail as usual at 5 p.m. to-morrow for the return trip to Russell, Opua, YVTiangaroa, and Mangonui.
THE OMANA’S TIMETABLE. —The Omana was delayed at YVarkworth for several days by the rough weather on the coast, but arrived yesterday afternoon and sailed this morning for Brown's Bay, Arkle’s Bay, Manly, Deep Creek and Silverdale. To-morrow she is to be despaehed at midnight with passengers for the YVarkworth Show. Consequently, there will not be an excursion steamer to Manly on Sunday. NUCULA WITH OIL FUEL.— With a full cargo of fuel oil for the warships of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, the Admiralty oil-tanker Nucula arrived at Auckland last evening from San Pedro. The vessel anchored in the stream and will probably remain there for some days before berthing at Sheerlegs YY r harf to discharge her cargo into the Navy Department’s tanks at DevonporL SCHOONERS PI RI AND HUIA. —The Nobel auxiliary schooner Piri is expected at Auckland at any time now with a cargo of explosives from Melbourne. The vessel sailed from Melbourne on January 6, but she is probably being delayed by the stormy weather on the north-east coast. YVith timber from Auckland and Hokianga the Nobel auxiliary schooner Huia is expected at Melbourne about Monday. After discharge she will load explosives at Melbourne for Queensland ports. RONA ARRIVING TO-NlGHT.—Ac-cording from a further wireless report received early this afternoon by the local office of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co., the sugar steamer Rona, en route from Suva to Auckland and Sydney with a full cargo of raw sugar is expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland at 6 o’clock this evening. Early to-morrow morning the vessel is to be berthed at the company’s works at Chelsea. The vessel reported yesterday afternoon that she was hove-to in a hard easterly gale 87 miles off Moko Hinau Island. A RAW A DUE SHORTLY.— Scheduled to reach Auckland from Liverpool on Monday the Shaw, Savill and Albion lier Arawa is bringing passengers, mail and cargo for New Zealand. THE TAINUI.— The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui, from London and Southampton, berthed at Wellington at ten o’clock yesterday morning to land passengers, mails, and a quantity of general merchandise. Passengers for the North reached Auckland by the ordinary expresses this morning and . their baggage is being forwarded by the Kaponga. The Tainui is expected to leave Wellington early next week for Auckland to complete unloading and also to commence loading for her homeward voyage, to the agency of A. S. MELBOURNE SERVICE.—The Union Company have been advised that the passenger steamer Manuka sailed fwrr Melbourne yesterday via Milford Sound' for YY’ellington, where she is due next Monday. The Manuka is to leave Wellington on Wednesday, January 25, for Lyttelton, Dunedin r Bluff and Melbourne. RIMUTAKA TO COMPLETE.— The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Ri mu taka leaves Welling, ton at 6 p.m. on Saturday for thence Auckland to complete her loading The vessel is due here on January li and is scheduled to sail finally from thn port on February 2 for Southampton and London, via Panama. TAMAROA SAILS SATURDAY.—L. I. Nathan and Company advises that the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tamaroa, which is completing her loading at Auckland, leaves here at daybreak on Saturday for Southampton and London, via Panama. Passengers are to embark tomorrow evening and baggage is to be alongside the vessel by noon to-morrow.
