NEED FOR BUSES
GODSEND TO ROSKILL APPLICATION SUPPORTED The Mount Roskill Road Board was notified at its meeting last night that Messrs. Parkinson and Co. intended to apply to No. 1 licensing authority for permission to run a motor-omnibus service between the Civic Square and Waikowhai, via Dominion and Mount Albert Roods, and requested the board to support the application. Proposed timetables and schedule of fares were submitted, and considered satisfactory. Mr. J. R- Robertson supported the application. “It will be a regular Godsend to get the buses back." he said. “Our only hope lies in an efficient bus service, but whether the City Council will grant It or not is another question.” Mr. Allen: “That‘s no reason why we should not support Parkinson. If we back up this application it will let the Royal Commission see that the local authorities are behind this bus question. and perhaps give them a clearer insight into the position." It was unanimously decided to write to the licensing authority in support of the proposed service.
