GIRL’S FATAL INJURIES VISITOR FROM TE AROHA Running round the back of a bus from which she and her mother had just alighted, Freda Mackie, aged 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Mackie, of Te Aroha, fell under the rear wheels of a passing motor-bus, and received injuries from which she died half an hour later. The accident happened at the corner of Old Lake Road and Fraser Road, Narrow Neck, about 5.30 p.m. yesterday. The girl and her mother were returning from the city to the house of Mr. G. W. Crabb, in Fraser Road, where they had been staying since their arrival in Auckland on Wednesday last. The bus was driven by Mr. Eric Cleal, of Devonport, and was proceeding uphill past the stationary vehicle. The injured girl was attended to by Dr. Wheeler and Dr. T. de Clive Lowe. An inquest, opened last evening, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., was adjourned sine die after formal evidence of identification had been taken.
