STORMWATER DRAINAGE A tender by Messrs. H. Valentine and Son, for £1,699 17s was accepted by the Northcote Borough Council last night for stormwater drainage in Queen Street. The contract provides for the construction of a 3ft reinforced concrete conduit to convey the water from Denby Gully, in Queen Street, and from Belle Vue Avenue and Richmond Avenue, through the recreation reserve, to the northern end of Sulphur Beach. Eight tenders were received, the lowest being accepted. Until the concrete paving of the approache is completed the Harbour Board has agreed to allow buses to turn on the wharf provided an indemnity is given against damage. The engineer is to make arrangements with the contractors. The fire brigade is to be equipped with an additional 700 ft of hose, couplings and nozzle, .... _
