ADVANCING CRICKET
A KING COUNTRY MOVE Proposals for the formation of* a Central King Country Cricket Association have been mooted from time to time during many years past, but until recently nothing came of the matter. It was felt by enthusiastic cricketers in the district that some body should be formed with power to challenge for the Hawke Cup, and arrange other important fixtures, and concrete efforts toward culminating this have now been set afoot by the Taumarunui Association. As a result, a conference will be held between delegates representing Ruapehu, Taihape, Moawhango, Kaitieke, Maniapoto and Ohura. The meeting will take place at Taumarunui on January 17, and it is hoped by all lovers of the game that success will follow the deliberations. It is considered that the Waikato Centre have so many able men to choose from that little consideration can be given to Central King Country players when big matches are on the card, even though the King Country men have usually put up a winning game against anything Waikato has sent along.
