WOMAN’S DEATH

SUSPICIOUS SYMPTOMS INQUEST AT HAMILTON The inquest concerning the death of Ethel Kennedy Rochford, aged 39, who died shortly after her admission to the Waikato Hospital on December 21, was resumed yesterday. The evidence showed that Mrs. Nevson was called in to see deceased on the morning of the 21st. She found her very ill and sent for Dr. Brewis, who had her removed to the hospital. The deceased told Dr. Brewis and the hospital doctor that she had taken a solution of alum. Dr. Fulton, who conducted the postmortem, expressed his opinion that something stronger than alum had been used, and that it had not been self-administered. A verdict was returned of death due to the application of an irritant which caused heart failure and congestion of the lungs.
