GEOLOGICAL SURVEY
NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED DR. J. HENDERSON Press Association. WELLINGTON. Saturday. Dr. J. Henderson has been appointed Director of Geological Survey in succession to the late Dr. F. G. Morgan. Dr. Henderson was born in New Zealand. and educated at the High street State School, Dunedin, Otago Boys. High School, Otago University and School or Mines. He obtained the degree of B.Sc. in 1902, M.A. in 1906, D.Sc. in 190>., and B.Sc. in metallurgical engineering in 1913. He holds the certificate of mine and land surveyor. In 1904. after gaming experience in practical mining at Denniston and Reefton, Dr. Henderson was appointed director of the Reefton School of Mines. In 1911 he joined the staff of the. Geological Survey as mining geologist. From this position he has been promoted to that of director.
In addition to being the writer of several bulletins published by the Geological Survey, Dr. Henderson has contributed many papers to scientific and technical journals.
