BREEZY DAY AT THAMES HEMUS IN FORM AT HAMILTON (From Our Oven Correspondent) THAMES, To-day. The senior cricket competitions ■were resumed last Saturday, and much interest centred in the match City v. Karaka. 'With 50 minutes to go. Karaka. required 106 runs to save defeat, which it secured with 10 minutes to spare, through the Jessop-like effort of Gilbert Buchan, who knocked up 58 runs in 30 minutes. Karaka won by six w'ickets and 13 runs. The other match proved an easy w’in for Tararu by eight wickets anil 98 runs. Ramblers gave a poor cjxhibition in their second innings. TE AWAMUTU, Sunday. The cricket match Te Awamutu v. Korakonui took place at Albert Park, Te Awamutu. on Saturday. Te Awamutu batted first, and put together 155 for the loss of six wickets. M. Barnett was top scorer with 42; R. Lord compiled 38, G. Morriss 25, L. Shepherd 14, and B. Morris 13. Korakonui replied with 89, Orr being chief scorer with 22 to his credit. Christie 12. Wilson, 12, and .Ashdown, 10, were the only other batsmen to reach double figures. Bowling: Barnett 8-43. Martin 1-9. Clarke 1-10. For Korakonui, Kay 3-47, Bates 3-59. HAMILTON, Sunday. Some good scores were registered in the Old Bovs-Hamilton match on Saturday. Hemus topped the individual tallies for the day with a wellplayed 92 not out. Old Boys kicked off with a total of 267. Butler being top scorer with a well-hit 79. Lenihan made 43, and Gibbons got 25 not out. Hamilton replied with 181 for six wickets, Hemus 92 not out, and Ileyworth 25. Against Frankton, Hamilton East was all out for 133 in its first innings, the only batsmen to more than 20 being Skeet (28) ahd Badeley (24). Cobbe, five for 42. was the particular bugbear of the East Frankton fared even worse, being nil out for 121. Kavanagh and Given were the only batsmen to make an} sort of a stand, the ex-Southland representative scoring 39. and Kwen 2 • not out. The wickets were well spli up. Hamilton East had .-cored 2 8 without loss in its second inning* when stumps were drawn for Ui« day*
