SEAMEN RESUME WORK
HITCH AT MELBOURNE RUSH FOR THE SHIPS By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. There has been a general resumption of work by the seamen at all the ports exc ;pt Melbourne, where, it is stated, no official report has been received from the headquarters of tht union. Some vessels will be idle for some time yet, in order that their sailingsmay fit in with the time-table. All cargo vessels will be manned immediately. The seamen rushed the shipping master’s office yesterday in their anxiety to resume work on the ships that were affected by the strike. The companies have announced a long list of immediate inter-St at e sailings. The seamen still hope that the owners will not only agree to a conference, but will meet the men half way in a settlement of their differences regarding the bolding of irregular stop-work meetings.—a. and N.Z.
