WARATAHS IN FRANCE

BEATEN IN FAST GAME By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. PARIS, Thursday. In a Rugby match to-day SouthWest France defeated New South Wales by 19 points to 10. It was a fast, keen game, in whi<sh the Frenchmen’s dash and speed, particularly in the back division, kept the Waratahs on tenterhooks from the start. The Frenchmen overcame the handicap of losing the scrums by good combined work, in which A. Behoteguy was most prominent. The Waratahs’ line was always in danger when he was in possession of the ball. In the second half the visitors started well and hammered away with their usual vigour, but could not break through the French defence. —A. and N.Z.
