Horahora Partially Cleared of Pumice
FIVE-HOUR STOPPAGE WORKS TO CLOSE ON SUNDAY (From Our Otcn Correspondent) HAMILTON. To-day. The Horahora power works, which were temporarily closed s* 10 p.m. yesterday, resumed operation at 3 a.m. to-day, after five hours’ stoppage. » A large quantity of pumice was removed from the screens and the vent strands were straightened. but there was not time to clean the turbine pits or headrace, consequently the works will again be closed for a few hours after 9 a.m. on Sunday to allow that work to be undertaken. Six turbines were working to-cly and generating 7.000 kilowatts, an ir crease of 1,000 k.w.
