“I Thank God —”
BARON’S DRAMATIC DEATH Opening a Hospita. I By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed Noon LONDON, Wednesday. DESPITE his doctor’s warning not to attend public ceremonies, owing to his weak heart, Lord Glanusk, Lord-Lieutenant of Brecknockshire, arrived at Brecknock to open the War Memorial Hospital, in which he was greatly interested. He began his speech, “Thank God for sparing me to see this day,” when he collapsed and was carried to the hospital. He died in eight minutes. After the removal of Lord Glanusk, his heir, the Hon. Wilfred Major Bailey said he was sure his father would desire the ceremony to proceed, and accordingly he handed over the deeds of the site to the chairman of the hospital. The bishop said a dedication prayer, when Lord Glanusk’s death was immediately announced. —A. and N.Z.
