A BIRD BATH

If you have a tree stump for which you can And no use on your camp site, you can do your feathered friends a good turn. In the mid-day heat of the sun the birds would welcome a bath in which they could cool themselves and quench their thirst. A flat board should be nailed to the top of the stump to form a base on which to stand a basin or bowl full of water. A large stone should be placed in the centre of the basin.

If holes are bored through the stump you can slip a couple of sticks through them to serve as perches for the birds.

Remember to change the water regularly for it soon gets hot and full of leaves, and pieces of stray grass.
