To obtain a brilliant polish on a fuel stove, apply the black-lead, then light a fire in the fire-box. As the stove warms, a few strokes of the brush will be all that is needed. Before washing stockings and socks pin the toes of each pair together with a safety pin; then, after washing, they can simply be thrown over the clothesline. They will keep their shape better than if pegged, and no time will be lost pairing when dry. To clean a porcelain sink quickly, dip a flannel lightly into paraffin and rub till stains are removed, then wash with warm water and soap.
