M * * Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, of Te Aroha, who have been visiting Auckland, left town for a visit to Kawau this morning. * # Captain C. C. Best, M.C., and Mrs. Best return to New Zealand on January 17 per s.s. Maunganui. Mrs. Best will make a short stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Mcßride, Mount Albert, before returning to Malay in April. Miss Gwen McCarthy, formerly a member of the Public Trust Office staff, Auckland, has left for Sydney en route to China as a mission sister. She volunteered for foreign mission service six years ago, and has the distinction of being the first to leave the Dominion as a member of Notre Dame Missions. Before covering wooden button moulds for wash-frocks, boil them well in strong soda water. This will take all the turpentine out of the wood and prevent the buttons from discolouring the material when the frock is washed.
