BODY RECOVERED FROM WAIKATO RIVER

DISCOVERY AT HUNTLY NAME BURNIE OR BIRNIE (From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, To-day. The body of a man was recovered from the Waikato River at Huntly this morning. It is thought to be that of the man who jumped from the Hamilton railway bridge a week ago. This morning about 10 o’clock Messrs. T. Heffron and G. Attrill noticed the body floating down the river and informed the police. Constables Ingram and Robertson removed it from the water and took it to the morgue. , . . Papers found on the body included a Post Office bank book and a discharge from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force bearing the name George Birnie or Burnie. A watch in a pocket had stopped at 4.33 o clock. An inquest will be held.
