The Auto Show
Rich and poor, and high and low — Face to face at the Auto Show. Here is splendour and power‘and speed, Once a luxury, now a need. Here is Beauty and Strength and Art, Rhythm attuned to the beating heart. Technical words greet anxious ears — Differentials and shifts and gears, Oil and mileage, gas and tyre, Wheels of wood and wheels of wire; Cigarette lighters, and “get-away,” Closed cars—best for a rainy day. Tongues of Babel in question marks, Clutches and tonneaus and valves and sparks Brilliant colours of every hue, Nickel and copper and red and blue. Glistening bodies and polished glass, “’Scuse my Dust" and “Let me Pass." Hearts beat high with the gladsome scene—- “ Boat” m and “hack” and plain “machine,” “Wreck” and “bus,” “wagon” and car, AH affectionate terms they are. Lights and laughter—and both aglow — The world’s akin at the Auto Show!
