TARANAKI OILS FIRM OHINEMURIS IMPROVE Business on ’Change opened for 1928 this morning with a healthy tone in the market for most of the b«;tter classes of securities. Compared with December's closing quotations several shares have % a decidedly firmer tone. In miscellaneous Taranaki oils have strengthened to see buyers offering 10s 6d and sellers asking 11s 9d. Wilsons Cements are also in good tone, with firm buyers at 36s 9d. Banks and insurances are quiet. In mining, Waihis are quoted at approximately half December quotations, following the passing of the resolution in London to strengthen capital from reserves. Ohinemuris have improved to see buyers at Bs. The demand for gilt-edged securities was weak, and many parcels were neglected.
