“MOST HELLISH SYSTEM”— SENSATION IN ST. PAUL’S
By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Sunday A man who was seated behind a pillar, rendering his localisation difficult, interrupted the Rev. T. Wellard when he was entering the pulpit of St. Paul’s this morning, saying: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the people of England, I protest against ministers of the Church acting as Christian ministers, because they are accessories to the most hellish wrongs, in defiance of the laws of God and man, upon the people and the poor, by ministers, judges, and law officers.” Vergers asked the interjector to leave. This was followed by refusal, and then by forcible ejection. He withheld his name and address and promised to return. His grievance was against the police for arresting poor men on false charges. and accepting bribes, in which he declared ministers and magistrates acquiesced. —A. and N.Z.-Sun.
