EXCELLENT PARTNERSHIP
BATTING AT HAMILTON S. A. R. BADELEY IN FORM (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Sunday. The best batting partnership witnessed in the cricket fixtures this season took place on Saturday, when S. A. R. Badeley and Skeet, playing for Hamilton East, added 232 runs between them for the fall of the third wicket. Badeley, opening briskly,
played vigorously throughout his innings and soon ran up a respectable score by forceful hitting. He settled down to give one of the best batting exhibitions seen in Hamilton, hitting freely all round the wicket. His score included a liberal •
sprinkling of sixes and fours. He was ultimately caught by Pomeroy off Heyworth’s bowling after an afternoon at the crease in a blazing sun. There was great merit in his performance, which followed his taking live Hamilton wickets for runs in the first innings. ANOTHER INDUSTRIOUS RUNGETTER R. Skeet, who was responsible with Badeley for the fine partnership, scored 108 in a merry winnings, but singularly enough fell a victim in exactly the same manner as Badeley to Pomeroy and Hey worth. Both gave a batting display which was delightful to watch. Badeley is a younger member of the well-known Auckland sporting family, and has been located at Hamilton for the past two seasons. He has won representative recognition as a footballer at Hamilton. His cricket has been most consistent, and he was responsible for some good batting performances last season.
