HARBOUR BOARD B LEADS GLEN EDEN

FAST FIELDING Smart fielding was a feature of the match between Glen Eden and Harbour Board B team on No. 3 ground at the Domain on Saturday. The wicket was in good condition and the bowling fast. Glen Eden opened badly. A partnership between Kerr and McNeil was dissolved when only four runs had been made. Then Shepherd made a stand, batting carefully, but hitting well as opportunity offered. He made the top score of the day for Glen Eden, being dismissed for 25 runs. No very brilliant displays were given for the remainder of the innings, which concluded in an uneventful manner. For some time it was thought a partnership between A. Belsham and Spearpoint might be the means of piling up a good ma%in of points, but these hopes were soon disappointed, Belsham being caught by Candy, and Spearpoint bowled by Storey after making 19. A GOOD START Harbour Board colts began well with a partnership between Norman and Storey, which netted 45 runs. Scoring was good throughout, the top score being made by Brighton and by Candy, both making 34 runs. Glen Eden was rather slack in fielding, and the bowling was below the usual standard. At the end of time, seven wickets had fallen. Richardson and Stewart being still at the wickets. Fast returns by Harbour Board colts was chiefly instrumental in keeping scoring down and giving them a good margin on the first day’s play.
