BRIDGE PARTY
Mrs. R. Roberts, of Rehiuera Road, was the hostess at a delightful little bridge and dance party given on Saturday evening in honour of Miss. Flora Stacey, of Gisborne, whose marriage takes place shortly. Appliqued leaves of velvet in autumn shadings trimmed Mrs. Roberts’s attractive gown of bronze gold georgette, ancT their varied colouring was accentuated by her fan of flamecoloured feathers. Miss Stacey wore a charming little frock of moonlight blue chiffon, encrusted with rhinestone trimming. Bowls of gay flowers lent their beauty to the house and made charming splashes of colour in the various rooms. Among Mrs. Roberts’s guests were: Mrs. Worrall, in a frock of heavily beaded black georgette. Mrs. Carr, who wore a floral patterned frock of chiffon. Mrs. F. Wilson, in a beaded frock of hyacinth blue ninon. Mrs. Mackay, wearing a black panne velvet gown with diamente trimming. Mrs. Murchison, in a frock of shot rose taffeta. Mrs. J. Paterson, whose black georgette frock was tiered with fringe. Mrs. Mills, wearing an apple-green taffeta frock. Mrs. Rutherford, whose frock was of orchid mauve taffeta. Mrs. Morris, in a powder blue frock of georgette with crystal beading. Mrs. R. Wilson, wearing a chenille embossed frock of almond green toning. Mrs. H. Davis, in a fringed frock of ombre red shades. Mrs. N. Little, wearing a crystal embroidered black georgette frock. Miss M. Davis, in a frock of primrose taffeta. Miss R. Watson, whose cherry red georgette frock was girdled with velvet: Miss L. Williams, in a bouffant ivory taffeta frock. Miss Boles, wearing a frock of iris mauve, floral chiffon. To damp dyed goods, wet a large sheet of newspaper and wring it partly dry in a towel. Spread the paper on a table and put over it a piece of old white sheeting or calico, then spread the article to be damped on top of these, roll up roly-poly fashion, place in a clean baking-dish and put into the oven for a few minutes. The steam rising from the wet paper will make the article damp enough for ironing in a few minutes.
