BATHING ACCIDENT

TWO CHILDREN IN DANGER A drowning accident was narrowly averted in Ohiwa Hirbour. near Opetiki, on Saturday, by the plucky action of Miss Eva Scott, of Auckland. Two young girls, aged about 12, daughter of Mr. Bert Parkinson and D. Hunia, of Opotiki, both got out of their depth, and not being experienced swimmers, were rapidl-* r being w-ashed out to sea. A very strong current was running. Miss Eva Scott, noticing the plight of the children, swam to their aid. She was assisted by Messrs. Jessup, sen. and jun., but for whose help Miss Scott could not have brought boGi girls ashore. First aid treatmerit had to be applied before the children recovered.
