DEPRESSED MAN SEEKS DEATH

FOILED SUICIDE ATTEMPT “I’M IN ORDER,” HE SAYS Donald Baxter, aged 33, depressed by unemployment, attempted to commit suicide yesterday. JJE pleaded guilty to the offence at the Police Court to-day. Mr. F. D. McLiver, who appeared for accused, said that his client had not been able to obtain work as an accountant, and had surrendered to the temptation of drink. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt: He had better be remanded to get the drink out of his system. Accused: I’m quite in order. The Magistrate: No, you’re not. I can see by your face:—remanded till Tuesday.
