Barbara Worth has been cast in the leading feminine role opposite Hoot Gibson in “The Prairie King.” Otis Harlan has been signed under a Long-term contract by Universal, according to an announcement by Carl Laemmle. Rod La Rocque is to be starred in “Stand and Deliver,” written for the screen by three prominent scenario writers. Fcx Films Corporation has bought the operetta “Blossom Time.” It will possibly be made with Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell co-starred. “Blossom Time” will be produced under the direction of Frank Borzage. A sequel to “What Prince Glory,” to be called “The Cock-Eyed World,’ is being written by Laurence Stallings and Maxwell Anderson. Juno Marlowe has been signed to play a role in the Jewel production, “The Foreign Legion,” which co-stars Norman Kerry and Lewis Stone. Maria Casajuana, the Spanish beauty whom Fox Films brought from Barcelona to train for a picture career, has her first dramatic chance in “A Girl in Every Port.” Maria is with Victor McLaglan in this picture.
The male lead in “The Escape” has fallen to William Russell. William Demarest will have an important supporting role. Russell has just finished “Woman Wise” for Fox, and Demarest “Sharp Shooters” for the same company. Mary Duncan, the girl who created a sensation with her stage performance in “The Shanghai Gesture” and who was signed immediately by Fox, will have her first opportunity in F. W. Murnau’s second American-made picture, “The Four Devils.”
