HAMILTON BANKRUPTCIES
CAUSES OF FAILURES , Twenty-nine bankruptcies were recorded in Hamilton during the past year compared with 39 the previous year and 25 in 1925. The principal failures were those of farmers. Of assets estimated to produce £24.797 in 1927, only £6,558 was realised. p Commenting on the figures, the official assignee considered the farmers’ bankruptcies were due to the aftermath of the slump following buying at inflated values, while many of the small traders’ troubles were due to inability in keeping books.
