WAIHI ROAD TRAFFIC

NO ACCIDENTS In spite of the heavy traffic on the Waihi Beach Road during the holidays, not a single accident has been reported, which is to the credit of those motorists wdio have used the road. Last year a one-way traffic in tne gorge was imposed, but as this proved irksome, and a rather cumbersome method of dealing with the extra traffic, the rule was imposed only on a short strip of road crossing the swamp, too narrow for two vehicles to pass. In the ordinary course of events work should have been resumed at the Waihi mine and battery this morning (Thursday), but owing to the interference with the electric power at Horahora, it will probably be Monday before a start is made.
