CONVICTION AT THAMES

Before Messrs. W". Glessing and W. H. Lucas, J.P.'s, at Thames yesterday, Robert Leonard Pickworth was charged with forging the name of H. M. Campbell to a cheque drawn on a bank at Paeroa for £5, and with uttering the same to Edward James Appleton, of Thames. H. M. Campbell, of Kopuarahi, said Pickworth was employed by him under the name of Leonard Alfonso. The cheque was taken out of witness’s cheque book. Constable J. McAlpine gave evidence of the arrest of the accused at Wanganui.

Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
