REPORT ON BORING Press Association. GISBORNE, To-day. The Taranaki Oilfields Company report that Waiapu No. 2 well has been drilled to 2.90%ft in shale, with a Ssin. diameter casing to 2,390 ft. Gisborne No. 1 well is drilled to 2,140 ft with an 84in diameter casing to 2,120 ft in shale from 1,935 ft to 1,940 ft; also from 1,960 ft to 2,000 ft and from 2,045 ft to 2,060 ft. The balance was through sand. Samples of sand between 2,000 and 2.050 ft, treated with chloroform, show definite traces of oil. There was a showing of gas from 2,060 to 2,065 ft. Gisborne No. 2 well transport has been delayed by rain, and the company is now nearly ready to commence construction work.
