CAUGHT UNDER THE BED

INTRUDER AT POINT CHEVALIER

BURGLING EQUIPMENT FOUND

COMPLETE with torch, mask, keys and sand-shoes, a youth, aged 19, was found hiding under a bed in the house of Mr. William Jefferies, Point Chevalier.

•vrESTERDAY a boy, knowing that ' the house was unoccupied for the holidays, became suspicious when he sa w a man prowling about. He notified the police, and a detective was sent out. When he arrived at the house he heard someone mov-

ing inside, but the occupant refused a request to open the door. Finally, the detective gained admission, and the young man, complete with equipment such as a burglar may use, was found hiding under a bed. At the Police Court to-day, Leslie Clifford Cuflin, aged 19, was charged with breaking and entering the house, with intent to commit a crime. Mr. R. A. Singer applied for bail, on accused’s behalf. Chief-Detective Hammond opposed the application, on the ground that he had some inquiries to make. Accused was remanded to appear again to-morrow morning.
