WOMAN FLIER’S FIGHT WITH SNAKE IN PLANE
REPTILE BATTERED TO DEATH IN MID-AIR British Wireless—Press Assn.—Copyright RUGBY, Tuesday. The British airplane Red Rose, with Mrs. Keith Miller and Captain W. N. Lancaster on board, left Rangoon today for Tavoy, Lower Burma, and Singapore, on a further stage of its flight to Australia. A large crowd of people gave the aviators an enthusiastic send-off. When the machine reached Tavoy the aviators described an extraordinary adventure they had with a snake while speeding through the air. Captain Lancaster noticed a snake in his cockpit, but he was unable to leave the controls. The snake glided into Mrs. Miller’s cockpit, behind the pilot. Mrs. Miller, after a struggle, succeeded in battering the snake to death. It is believed the reptile entered the machine while the latter stood on the Rangoon racecourse.—A. and N.Z.
