SENTENCE OF DEATH
STATE OFFICIALS’ DEALINGS MOSCOW, Wednesday. It is officially announced that Poliakov. the commercial director of the grain department of the State Bank, and his assistant, Telesnin, have been sentenced to death for selling grain to private merchants on more favourable terms than to State departments. Neither of the men will benefit by the amnesty granted in October, as it has been proved that they were Involved excessively in a prolonged abuse of their official positions for selfish purposes. A middleman and a receiver were also sentenced to death, but their sentences were commuted to 10 years' imprisonment.—A. and N.Z,
