NEUROLOGIST STRICKEN

FORM OF PARALYSIS HIS BOLD RESEARCHES By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Monday. Dr. Henry He d, who has long been one of the leading nerve specialists, and was formerly editor of “Brain,” is now a victim to Parkinson’s disease, a form of creeping paralysis, which he had made his life-long study. When the symntoms first, appeared 18 months ago. Dr. Head retired to Dorchester. He cannot write, although doctors in all parts of the world still consult him on abstruse problems of neurology. Dr Head dictates his replies to his wife. Twenty years ago Dr. Head deliberately risked contracting paralysis by severing the nerves of his left arm near the elbow, for the purpose of studying the problems of deepsensibility. He prefaced the experiment by a life of rigorous self-denial, and the arm healed perfectly. The present complaint is apparently due to later overwork. Dr. Head used to tell his patients that they must rethe problems of deep sensibility. He says he is sorry now. as he did not quite appreciate how hard life was for them. —A. and N.Z
