STRONG PROGRAMME Albert Rav, whose forte is comedydrama of the highest order,, has again scored with “Love Makes ’em v\ lid, Fox Film’s version of “Willie the Worm,” which is now being shown at the Capitol Theatre. This is a fast-moving comedy with Sally Phipps and Johnny Harron in the leading roles. Ray has made the most of the many amusing situations, and it is said the screen version fairly abounds in chuckles. The cast includes J. Farrell MacDonald, Ben Bard Natalie Kingston, Florence Gilbert, Albert Gran, William Davidson and others. “Faust,” the U.F.A. masterpiece, starring Emil Jannings, is also being shown at the Capitol for two more days. One of the most coveted screen roles of the year has been awarded to Joan Crawford, who will play the title role in “Rose Marie.” Miss Crawford is now completing the feminine lead opposite William Haines in “West Point,” and has enlarged her following during the past year by her excellent work in ‘ The Unknown,” “The Taxi Dancer,” “The Understanding Heart,” and several other films. “Rose Marie” is a screen adaptation of the famous musical play. • * * Guarding us unceasingly, protecting homes and property every day of the year, performing acts of heroism beyond the call of duty and treating this as all in the work—such is the task of the mosl unselfish, the least lauded and the bravest organisation in the world—the fire fighters'. To these heroes of the home front, Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer dedicated its epic production, “The Fire Brigade.” It is a thrilling story of the life of a fireman. Twenty fire engines were used and fourteen buildings destroyed in making it. It shows with realism all the thrills of a fire-fighter’s life, at the same time teaching a grave warning against the dangers of trifling with fire.
