FEW SERIOUS LOSSES . It is estimated that damage by fire m Hamilton during the past year has joiounted to £4,000, all in small out“feaks. There were 43 calls. Of these . Were actual fires, two being outsiae the district, eight were outbreaks gerse and rubbish dumps, and three Were false alarms, one being maliciously given. Since the duplex alarm ®ystem was installed four years ago record for malicious alarms has f ev er been so low as it has been durthe last year. In all cases the was promptly summoned and , ® smart response made resulted in being reduced to a minimum. *^ a ter supply and fire alarms were Provided in Moeroa area. The fire Police corps formed had rendered valuable assistance.
