DEATHS FROM ALCOHOL. —The total number of deaths from alcoholism in New York since Friday has now reached 24.—A. and N.Z. QUEENSLAND FIRE.—A Are at Gordonvale. near Cairns, destroyed several buildings, including the Commercial Hotel, whose guests barely escaped in night attire. The damage is estimated at £30,000. —-A. and N.Z. A KING'S ESTATE. —A Rumanian court has endorsed a division of the late King Ferdinand’s estate, valued j at £500,000, equally among five beneficiaries, including Prince Carol.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. CRICKET TEST.—The missing scores in Marylebone’s first innings, in the test match in which the club beat South Africa, were: Sutcliffe, c Vincent, b Promnitz, 102; Tvldesley, lbw, b Dunning, 122; Wyatt, lbw, b Promnitz, 0; Legge, c Nupen, O.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. FATAL GLASGOW FIRE.—The bodies of three of the Glasgow firemen were discovered in a corner of the ruined warehouse which was destroyed on Christmas Eve, when four firemen were burned when a wall collapsed.— A. and N.Z.-Sun. YOUTHS DROWNED.—A party of four young men were fishing in a dinghy in the South Arm (says a Hobart message) when the boat capi sized, and three of them, Ray Parkey, jJack Mann and Edward Osborne, were drowned.— A. and N.Z.
