£14,000,000 EXPENDED GREAT ACTIVITY Great building activity took place during 1927 in Sydney city and suburbs, 10,885 buildings having been erected at a cost of £14,226,990. Buildings in the suburbs cost £11,431,713, and in the city £2,795,277.

Although the value of the buildings this year was less than that for 1924, which created a record with a total value of £14,346,671, it showed an increase of £1,098,268 on the value of buildings erected last year. A comparison of the average value of the buildings is also interesting. In 1914 the value of buildings erected was £6,775,548, an average of £642 a building. This year the average has risen to £1,307 a building, an increase of 103.58 per cent, since 1914.
