ALL HOPE ABANDONED
MISSING FLIERS FUTILE OCEAN SEARCH By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. NEW YORK, Tuesday. Hope has virtually been abandoned for the safety of the crew of the missing airplane Dawn, after every portion of the route from New York to Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, has been thoroughly searched. Severe storms, which have raged along the route, render the possibility of the airplane floating for more than a short time most doubtful. The dirigible Los Angeles has returned to Its hangar, having concluded an unsuccessful search. The Newfoundland agent of the Western Union Telegraph Company at Heart’s Content, has reported that he heard wireless signals on Monday, which he believed came from the missing airplane. The sender was seeking direction-finding stations to tell him his position. The signals were strong. Heart’s content Is on Trinity Bay, on the opposite coast of Newfoundland from Harbour Grace.—A. and N.Z. The missing airplane Dawn left xAr York for Newfoundland on Friday afternoon. It contained Mrs. Frances Grayson, Lieutenant Oskar Omdai, of the Norwegian Navy, as pilot, Mr. Brice Goldsborough, navigator and radio engineer, and Mr. Fred Koehler, mechanic.
