HONOUR FOR MR. F. W. REEU OF WHANGAREI M R F. W. REED, of Whangarei, has been awarded the decoration of Officer d’ | Academie by M. Edourd Herriot, Minister of Public Instruction and Fine Arts in I France, for his services to ! French literature. This award was made on j the recommendation of the j French Consul at Auckland. M. Paul Serre. Mr. Reed is a world authority on the work of Dumas pere, and at Whangarei he has what is probably the finest Dumas library and museum in existence. At present Mr. Reed is translating work which has not hitherto appeared in English. The Dumas collection will become the property of the Auckland Library on his death.
