OPOTIKI MEETING SOME FAST TIMES (From Our Oion Correspondent) OPOTIKI, To-day. Beautiful weather conditions enabled a large crowd to watch the annual meeting of the Opotiki Motorcycle Racing Club. The track was rather rough, but, nevertheless, the spectators witnessed the highest speeds ever attained on the track. The results were as follow: Open Hanndicap, 5 miles. —W. Herbert made an unsuccessful attempt to lower the world’s grass track record for a 3§ h.p. machine. Jack Arnott, astride his 7 h.p. Bitzer, then attempted to lower the track record of 49 2-5. His first attempt was successful, the time being 48 2-5. At the end of the ride the Auckland rider was greeted with thunderous applause. In the last race Arnott set a new. track lightweight record of 53 2-ssec.
