THE ALL-NIGHT MOVIE
“UNDERWORLD” EXTRAS In New York, the old type of all night movie show provided a place where a few weary travellers slipped into the little back street theatre to wait until their late train wa3 due, and where the rest of the audience consisted of derelicts who {stayed there in preference to sleeping in the park! Not so in Times Square, at the “Crossroads of the World.” The nearest approach there to the all night movie has been the recent extra showings of the popular and tremendous melodrama. ■‘Underworld.” In order to accommodate the overflow crowd of late enthusiasts who did not wish to miss the picture, another screening was added to the regular schedule, beginning at 11.45 at night and lasting until 1.05. This midnight performance was indeed different from the typical allnight movies. The average attendance was about 1,000 persons, a group composed of actors just out from their own shows and didn’t -want to miss it. It merely indicated that people will not only travel far and stand in line but that they will stay up late — if the picture is worth it.
William Fairbanks, who has played for a number of years in outdoor productions, has been assigned the role of “Buffalo Bill” Cody, in “Wyoming,” Tim McCoy’s new starring picture.
