“ALMOST A LADY”
STARRING MARIE PREVOST Marie Prevost has the leading feminine role in “Almost a Lady,” a P.D.C. production released through First National. “Almost a Lady” revolves round the mixed identities and humorous vicissitudes of the piquant Marie as a modiste’s model, and a clever supporting cast, including Trixie Friganza and George Gilmore, who supply many amusing moments as uncultured social climbers. The story is an adaption of the novel, “Skin Beep,” and is a brilliant combination of humour and romance, with some very real touches of pathos. How Marie, in borrowed plumes and priceless pearls, succeeds in entangling a “Duke” and becomes almost a lady, until it is discovered that her admirer is merely a plain millionaire, makes up an amusing and intriguing photoplay. Of course, everything ends happily, in spite of the activities of the heroine’s brother, who “butts in” at every opportunity during the affairs of his sister.
