TWO OFFICERS DROWNED SHIP A TOTAL LOSS By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. SUVA, Monday. The Clan Line steamer Clan MeWilliam caught fire at Vavau, Tonga, on Saturday. Her captain, Mr. W. Thompson, and an engineer, were drowned. The vessel was completing copra loading for the homeward voyage and had about 3,000 tons on board. There were no fire-fighting appliances available at Vavau, and the vessel will be a total loss. —A. and N.Z. The Clan Me William was a. vessel of 6,085 tons. She was built in 191 S at Greenock, and belonged to the Clan Line of Messrs. Cayzer, Irvine and Company, of Glasgow. She was 424 ft long, and 55ft wide.
